5 instant perspective shifters

Do you sometimes get struck by glumness, slump in the chair & turn the TV on for distraction? It’s hard to know how to shift your mood when you’re in that place, so instead of letting your mind soak up the brainwashing media that’s on TV (telling you to buy that new shampoo to make your hair BIG and SHINY – it won’t) try these mood shifters:

  1. GRATITUDE LIST
    List what you’re grateful for. You may be skeptic if you haven’t heard or experienced this before, why would this make you happy/shift your state? But it really does. Don’t take my word for it, prove it to yourself!

    Start your gratitude list… make it longer & longer, explain WHY you’re grateful, start with ‘Thank you for…’ or ‘I am so grateful because…’.

  2. MOVE IT
    Get your physical body MOVING. This shifts the physical energy, and the mental energy follows. It also creates endorphins, the little happiness brain chemicals. Don’t do BORING exercise, do FUN exercise, whatever that might be for you! I like Hula hoop, dancing, cycling my bicycle & pretending it’s a motorbike, trying to skateboard, kiss chase, swimming… you add some!

  3. DE-CLUTTER
    Get together a bag for the charity shop, or to chuck out. Clear through a pile of papers. OR simply change your living space – move sofas around, change where you have your ornaments, paintings, DVDs. De-clutter your space = de-clutter your mind, c/o Happi Cards.

  4. PHONE A FRIEND OR A HAPPY PERSON
    Someone that you love, someone that inspires you, or that lifts your mood. We soak up the energy of people we are connected to. Whether they are 100,000km away, or right in your face. So find a happy one and soak it up! Be peaceful in their presence, observe their awesomeness & silently thank them for being in your life.

  5. MUSIC OR MEDITATION CDs
    Audio is a profound way to shift your state. Put on some uplifting happy music, or a meditation / hypnosis / affirmation CD. Relax (into a warm bubble bath, perhaps) & let the positive vibes be soaked up into your subconscious. Works a treat, without much effort.
